Basic Crocked Chicken
After hustling the kids off to school, kissing the hubbygoodbye
and just before leaving for work add all the ingredients below to the crock pot you got out last night to save time:
1 2 ˝ to 3 ˝ pound chicken
˝ medium lemon, cut in wedges
1 bay leaf (optional)
2 to 4 sprigs of fresh thyme (optional)
Lemon Pepper and salt to taste
(I also like to add a medium sliced onion in the cavity)
Remove giblets and fat pads from interior of chicken.
Place in 4+ quart slow cooker, breast side up with lemon wedges and bay leaf (and onion) in cavity. Season chicken with salt and pepper and sprinkle on thyme leaves or lay sprigs alongside the chicken. Cook on low 7 ˝ to 8 hours.
Upon arriving home you will be welcomed with such a marvelous aroma!!!! This is your signal to get out the GRANDMA’S Wide Egg Noodles and prepare them for a wonderful accompaniment to your Crocked Chicken.
Oh yeah, maybe you should heat a can of green beans to make a full meal. Enjoy!!!!!! What time is dinner? |
